Floor Maintenance

The maintenance and cleaning instructions will depend on the type of flooring. Generally, it’s recommended to sweep or vacuum regularly, clean up spills promptly, and use a manufacturer-recommended cleaning solution.

Yes, we provide a warranty for both our flooring products and installation. The warranty terms may vary depending on the type of product and the installation conditions.

Wood is a hygroscopic material, which means it always contains water. It is constantly exchanging water vapour with the ambient air, picking it up when humidity is high and giving it off when it is low. The relative humidity levels should be between 35-50% for solid and 30-65% for engineered. Household temperature should also be between 16-27 Celsius. This will help prevent gapping, cupping, crowning, and crackling/noisy floors.

Yes. Over time, wood changes color, typically darkening. Some woods change more than others. This is natural and part of the charm of real wood. The wood is gaining its “patina”. To make sure your Floors Plus hardwood floor ages uniformly – and gracefully – move your furniture, area rugs, and mats around from time to time.

Flooring Installation

The installation time will depend on the type of flooring, the size of the area, and the complexity of the project. On average, it can take anywhere from a few hours to several days.

In some cases, it may be possible to install new flooring over existing flooring, depending on the type of flooring and the condition of the subfloor. However, it’s always recommended to consult with a flooring professional before making a decision.

Yes, please. Your furniture must be removed from the areas that we will be working on prior to starting. If you require help, we will be happy to pass on the name and number of a quality moving company that can carefully move and pack away your furniture before we start and place it back once we’re finished.

Your furniture can go back into the room within 48 hours of the final coat application; however, your carpets and area rugs should not be placed back until the finish is fully cured. 

Refinishing Options

Dustless floor refinishing involves sanding, but the dust is captured by a containment system so it doesn’t spread throughout your home. Sandless refinishing, on the other hand, does not involve sanding at all. It skips that step and moves right to re-staining and buffing.

Most of the time, it will take us 5 to 6 days to refinish an average floor. But there are so many variables we really cannot give you a firm answer before seeing your floor in person.

Regular vacuuming, prompt cleanup of spills, and professional deep cleaning every 12-18 months are essential for maintaining your carpet’s appearance and longevity.

Carpet Installation

While it’s possible to install carpets yourself, hiring a professional is recommended for a smooth and successful installation. Professionals have the necessary skills, tools, and expertise to ensure the carpet is laid correctly and stretches properly.
